CREDO Retreats

What is CREDO?

CREDO stands for "Chaplain Religious Enrichment Development Operation." CREDO provides an assortment of chaplain led opportunities to sea service personnel and their families. CREDO's goal is to help enrich and strengthen people’s lives.

CREDO provides FREE workshops and retreats with a positive, safe, and supportive environment to:

Who can attend?

Per MCO 1738.1B, Active Duty and Reserve Component personnel, and their legally married spouse and dependents may attend workshops, seminars, and retreats at no cost to the service member.

Civilian government employees and contractors, as well as retired military, are not authorized participation at government expense, but may participate in workshops and other trainings.

Is it free?

Yes, CREDO pays for the hotel and meals. You must either have your command fund your travel or pay it yourself.

Can my command send me on funded TAD orders to a CREDO retreat?

Yes. Your command can use appropriated funds to send Marines and their family to any retreat. Let me repeat this: a command can fund TAD orders for a Marine and their family to attend anything CREDO offers anywhere. In years past, you could only send Marines PTAD to retreats, but the law changed. The authority to do this comes from 10 U.S.C. 1789/1788a, and is outlined in MCO 1738.1B section (c), and it is also specifically outlined in the JTR, 031907.

Where can I find a list of upcoming retreats?

Go to the MCI-East CREDO website found here: https://lejeunenewriver.usmc-mccs.org/marine-family-support/military-family-life/chaplains-religious-enrichment-development-operation
